Scotty, thank you for your intrepid leadership through the world of cybercommunication. This platform rocks and should only get better and better. I am going to try to get to the WIKI stuff this weekend--i need an outlet for some outrageous lies and somesuch, i mean editorials.
Give Lee Ann a smile for me-she is really nice.

Got the last page to yourself, and why not, save the best for last! Great Page, I was really touched by the tribute to those classmates that have gone on before us. CK

Hey Scott! Thanks for wanting to be my friend! Of course, I remember you all playing in our rec room! It was awesome!! My brother loved it as well!! He was always the tech man. I have truly enjoyed checking out the website. You have done a fabulous job and I am so impressed with everyone's response. The stories are great and the pictures are priceless. I have sort of kept up with you one way or another. . .On channel 4 I think you were teacher of the week - month - year?! Am I right? Also did your brother-in-law own Boxseat at one time? Our daughter Lisa worked there and somehow your name came up. See . . .I've been doing my homework! Loved the picture of you and your brothers. What fabulous memories and how special your class was to me! Thanks Scott for lettimg me be a part of this! Love you. Sally T

'bout me

I've been a teacher at University School of Nashville since 1996 and currently teach Technology to K-4th graders. It's a wonderful gig. I work Mondays for the Vanderbilt University Center for Science Outreach and I also nurture along a little internet startup with my two distantly located partners, MUVErs LLC (the MUVE stands for Multi-User Virtual Environments).

I am wonderfully married to Lee Ann for over 20 years and my daughter, Miranda, is a freshman at Belmont University studying creative writing and classical vocal performance. My son Colin attends USN with me and is also musically inclined and talented. I've been blessed in many ways and though I'm strictly areligious I am deeply committed to helping others, children and grown-ups alike, make their ways in the world.

I'm here because I count my time at Hillwood and the friends I made there among my many blessings. My ongoing ruminations about, well, pretty much everything, can be read at my scottmerrick's teaching, learning, working and playing in the 21st century blog.

Happy Holidays!

Hey, haven't been on much lately. My work has a new firewall that's blocking ning.com. I'm working on that, but meanwhile just wanted to say hi and thanks to those of ya'll who have visited the edublogs awards site to vote for my little SL blog, Oh! Virtual Learning!

MUVErs LLC just recieved its first big check from the U of WI Oshkosh for development of the first of many online nursing education medical training simulations. We're off and running. I hope everyone has a great holiday, and I'm p… Continue

2008 Edublogger Awards!

Hey, ya'll,

I'm so lame to be asking you to do this but it means a lot to me and an extra 70 votes might make all the difference. I'm in competition with several other groups that have very large organizations to threaten, cajole, bribe, etc. to the voting page; and I'm counting on all I have, which is begging. :)

Feel free to mod out your "My Page" to your liking!

I changed my "My Page" this morning, ditching that mad cacophonous hot pink thingie it had been for a modest chalkboard theme. It's very easy to do. Just click "Settings" off to the right and choose Appearance and pick a theme. You can get quite jiggy with it by changing individual color settings, too. I'm looking sooooo forward to Saturday. Now I just have to get a sitter for my boy. My daughter just begged out to be with her college friends that night.

There was talk of formal dress early on.… Continue

Tennessean gives artclectic "good ink!"

Hey, ya'll a last blast to invite you, if you're in Nashville or close by, to drop in on artclectic2008, the fantastic annual art show my wife Lee Ann oversees (and it's quite some task, I have to say) for the school where we both work. The funds are earmarked for teacher professional development, the arts, community outreach, and other good things, not just for the art department. I'm proud that the USN educational community reaches out to the broader community, and this event is the biggest an… Continue

artclectic at University School, mark your calendar...

for one of the coolest art shows the city has to offer. It's my family's burden and gift: My wife Lee Ann is the complete overlord of the fundraiser. This huge, prestigious (for the school and for the artists) juried art show always has a unique range of beautiful work to offer Nashville, and it starts (kinda) this Friday with an art opening by Florida photographer Tommy Crow, himself unique and his work beautiful. Found BANDY!

Geeeeez, you'd think it was brain surgery, but nope, it's Rheumatology :)==I talked with Ross's wife today having found him with a Google search that jarred my old brain cells into remembering his given first name, Preston. Yay!

LInk to school profile

Hey. Noodling around I happened on a school profile containing information I never knew. Did I know the school was built in 1959? I don't think I did. Anyway, here it is.
